Things are not always what they seem to be
One upon a time in a Faraway Kingdom there lived a king, a queen and their beautiful and kind daugnter, the young princess. They loved each other and lived hapilly together. When the princess was eighteen, the prince from the Country On The Other Side Of The World asked to marry her. The king loved her dauhter very much and wanted to find out more about the prince, so he disquised himself as a wonderer - took some shabby grey clothes and an old sruffy hat and set off.
It took him quite a long time to get to the Country On The Other Side Of The World and when he came there, he went to a pub, because it is the place where people always know everything. So he asked the person sitting at the same table, who was a builder, what the country is like."Oh, this is a horrible country, I woudln't stay here if I were you. It rains very often here and when the sun is shining, it is so strong that I can't do my job without being extremely tired." "Oh, what a pity," thought the king and on he went. He walked among lovely green fields, saw monumental mountains in the distance and lakes mirroring the sky. He heard the birds singing and water rushing down through the forests. Among the fields he met a farmer and asked him about the country. "You are very lucky to come here,"anwered the farmer,"because this is the best country in the world. It rains so often that my vegetables and fruit are wonderfully juicy and succullent. The sun is strong here, too, which makes my crops sweet and colourful. You couldn't have found a better place." "Ahha," smiled the king and on he went.
When he was approaching the castle where the royal family lived, he came to a lake. At the shore there was sitting a woman, washing clothes. The king asked her if she knew something about the prince. "Of course I know,"anwered the lady,"I am a servant in the castle. Well, our prince is a very strange person. His clothes are always very dirty, it takes a lot of time to wash them. And he never comes for dinner on time, we always have to wait for him. Actually, I think he doesn't care about anybody." "Oh my God," thought the king and walked on. In the castle garden he met two people - a gardener and a cook, so he asked them about the prince. "Oh, our prince is a very special person," said the gardener, "he helps me in the garden all the time, because he knows so much about plants. In fact, he planted some of the trees in the garden himself." "Yes, and he is also very kind," replied the cook," he comes for dinner a little bit later so that I can finish cooking. He knows it's very difficult to finish it on time. I think he is a wonderful boy." "That sounds better" thought the king and went into the castle, where he introduced himself as a king from Faraway Kingdom and spent some time with the royal family. He found them lovely, nice and interesting people, so he invited them to visit his counry.
When the royal family from the Country On The Other Side Of The World arrived in Faraway Kingdom and the princess saw the prince, she didn't like him. "My dear father, I can't marry him," cried the princess,"his clothes are so plane and his hands so rough. And he is so old - he is more than seven years older than me, which is too much." "Ok, my sweet daughter, nobody will force you to marry him, "replied the king,"the only thing I want from you is to sit next to him during the dinner. Is is too much?" "Now, it isn't, my dear father, I will sit with him when the dinner is served,"promised the princess. After the dinner, the king asked his daughter about the prince again. "Oh he is so interesting and experienced. He told me wonderful stories about countries he visited and people he met. He knows unbelievable things about nature and he is so kind and gentle. I am going to marry him." "Ok, my child, I am glad you have changed your mind,"answered the king and arranged a big wedding for them.
So the princess married the prince and they lived happily ever after.
